Established in 1881 the House of Creber was the leader of the field in traditional quality grocery shops. Steeped in history and family traditions, to this day we continue Crebers legacy.

John Carter established the business of N.H.Creber. In 1881, at the age of 33 work started on the grocery shop at 48 Brook Street.

The first shop in Tavistock to roast coffee.
1916
1916
The first grocers in Tavistock to offer customers delivery by motor van. Before this 1914 Ford was purchased deliveries were made by pony & trap and handcart.
1946

The first shop in Tavistock to offer the housewife frozen foods.
1953

The first shop in Tavistock to use open top refrigeration to protect perishable foods while on display.
1962

The first shop in Tavistock to sell fortified wines on draught showing a considerable saving in price.

The first shop in Tavistock to install BOC. Linde display refrigeration for the protection of delicatessen.
